Today we take a look inside Selve and observe one Selve family who support the dictator, Gog. There is also an insight into a Gog political rally.
THE GOD GAMES: Legend of Kor...Chapter Three
Rave Gilbert knew about the concentration camps and was glad of them. He looked around his dinner table, at his family: his son, Trev; his daughter, Julie; and his wife, Molly.
They were slowly starving as the price of food had risen markedly in the last months. It was all the Wale's fault, they were angry at their losses and wouldn't sell food to a Selve, so the Selves had to buy supplies from Voun and Emon, and their prices were also very high because of the huge demand.
This evening they had two small fish to feed the four of them, and that didn't go very far with two hungry children who did not understand the situation they were in.
If you had told Rave, two years ago, that there would be widespread food shortages in Selve, Rave would never have believed it. Why, he was a mining engineer in the gold and silver mines of Selve. He had a lot of gold and silver himself, and was in the upper middle class, but sometimes gold and silver will not buy food. Not with everyone in Selve striving for the little food there was.
"The stupid Wales! Who do they think they are?" demanded Rave as he smashed his fist on to the tabletop. His children and wife jumped and the little girl started crying. They all missed their favorite foods and now daddy was acting strangely.
"I hate the Wales, and all of this war business! I think they sometimes send us poisons on the fruits and vegetables. I'll be so glad when there are no more Wales and we have control of all the food. Then we'll raise the prices of food for all the Vouns and Emons, and we'll see how they like it!"
"Please honey, don't get so upset in front of the children. They can't understand all of this. I can't say that I do," said Molly.
"I'm sorry honey, I'll settle down, but there's another rally tonight. Listen to Gog and you'll understand more. He has great ideas and we will all profit when all of the Wale's are eliminated."
"I don't get what the Wales have done to deserve elimination. They are different from us, but not too different."
"Really honey, don't you listen to Gog at all? The Wales are ugly, rough-looking, and they are very backward. They believe in this one God, and they run their country without a King, or ruler. Why I've heard that some Wales are so tied to their one God that they sacrifice their children to him."
"Oh Rave, are you sure? That doesn't even sound realistic."
They all finished eating the fish and then put on their coats and hats, and left for the rally in downtown Mano.
Rave and his family found seats in the stands of the Fuseball Stadium and watched the pageantry of Gog's Army guards in maneuvers. The Gog flag-capital G, small sun, and capital G again-waved from every place you looked: GoG!
There was a loud roar of applause, and a limousine pulled up in the wide field before the Selve people. Gog stepped out of the limousine and climbed a short set of stairs to a rugged podium. He raised his arms and saluted all of the Selves.
Rave thought that Gog was a handsome man, despite his weight, at 6'2" tall with black hair and blue eyes- which was very rare for a Selve-but it was his voice that Rave was really drawn to. Deep and husky, Gog was able to modulate his voice with deep emotions.
"The Wales are warlocks and witches!" screamed Gog. "They poison the crops they sell to us! They have degraded the quality of sugar beets! The opalescent fish have toxins in their fat!
"Wale the Wales!" yelled Gog, and the people of Selve screamed back, "Gog! Gog! Gog!"
Tomorrow is the conclusion of the rally and a look at Gog's home life.
