Hello again my friends! The move went smoothly and I am now writing from the Ritz of Atlantic City. Thank you for your continuing support, I appreciate you very much.
Today we find the URA conquering Selve and setting up a new government with food for all of the Selves.
THE GOD GAMES: Legend of Kor...Chapter Twenty One
General Oats, Rand, and Cummings had brought their soldiers safely to the border of Selve and then in one movement they crossed the border and began a march to the Glandis River, outside of Mano, where they were to join up with General Coleman and the rest of the URA.
The generals and their soldiers had passed the Selve border and had marched about three miles, when they came across Gog's soldiers in their camp. They quietly surrounded the camp and then with great roars of triumph, they attacked the soldiers, who had been sitting around in a state of stupor awaiting Gog's orders to attack Emon. Gog's soldiers grabbed their weapons and began to return fire, but they were unprepared for a surprise attack and so they were like sitting ducks. In 30 minutes, all but a hundred of Gog's soldiers lay dead, and the hundred threw up their hands in surrender.
General Oats ordered the 100 Gog soldiers to be force-marched to the Glandis River. When they had reached the Glandis River, they set up camp and tied up Gog's soldiers so they wouldn't run away. They only had a two-day wait before all of the URA would join them. A day later, General Coleman and his soldiers found the Emon camp. General Coleman set-up camp with the Emon soldiers and placed all of Gog's soldiers in one guarded area. The Emons had brought trucks of food with them, and with the Voun and Wale trucks of food, they felt confident to be able to eat well, and yet have plenty of food to help out the poor Selve citizens who had been starving for the last few months.
In the morning, the URA marched on Mano. They were shocked that no soldiers met them at the border of Mano. They went deeper into the city and met giant hordes of rioters. With weapons drawn, the huge URA captured the rioters and asked the leader, a bedraggled ruffian, what had happened to Gog's forces.
The riot leader said that Gog had been assassinated and that all of his soldiers had broken loose from their Army ties and joined the rioters in their quest for food. Burgess Hall had been overrun and all of the food held there passed out to the starving Selves. There was very little food left, so very few people actually received any food. Now, it was each man for him or her self, and no attempt was made to stabilize the government.
General Coleman took control of Selve and announced that Wills Haddon, a Selve, would be at the head of the Selve government until a month had passed and general elections could be held. General Coleman also announced that he would be in charge of stabilizing Selve and getting the Selve people fed. (The Selves were in shock. Their goal had been to kill all of the Wales, and now they were under the orders of a Wale himself. That was very devastating to all of their egos.)
Then, General Coleman sent the food trucks into the Selve neighborhoods and sent some of the Emon and Voun soldiers to fishing and diving for kelp. The rest of the Emon-Voun armies went through the streets restoring order and finding those people who needed medical attention. General Coleman ordered that the sugar beets be cooked into sugar-beet juice and then had Wills and his men distribute the juice to the ill Selves.
After 48 hours, General Coleman declared Selve to be at peace, and he and Wills established a police force and a standing Selve army under Wills' control.
Wills called for open elections in exactly one month and nominated General Washburn-who had served on the last President's cabinet; before the rebellion that ended the Democracy and placed Gog in power-for the next President of Selve. He declared that all Selves 14 years of age, and older, would be allowed to vote in the elections.
A man who had been the Chief Ambassador in Gog's regine ran for the ultra-conservative Party, for President, against General Washburn.
During the month of waiting for the elections, General Coleman, Ed, and Wills, took a measure of what exactly Selve had left in its Treasury. They found savings accounts in all of the banks of Selve, and behind a wall in Gog's dining room, they found a hidden room holding a virtual mountain of gold coins.
Wills paid the men who had been in Gog's army so that they would not resent the new government. He then had all of the gallows torn down and outlawed the death penalty, and he assigned days to each Selve when they could come to Burgess Hall and receive a week's worth of food.
Tomorrow, Selve comes happily to a new political regime, the elections are held, and the country knows peace again.
