Today the friends party and talk about their future plans.
THE GOD GAMES: Legend of Kor...Chapter Twenty Three
Adam got 13 glasses and passed them around. He pulled out of his back pocket a large flask of Rye Whiskey and proceeded to give each adult a healthy dollop. He gave Trev and Julie some smores that he had managed to rustle up in about five minutes. They all toasted Bond and Lucy, and they may have stayed in that position for a long time except that Ed reminded them that they still had a short meeting before leaving for their homes and so they had better be heading back. At which, all of the ladies, being faced with the fact of their imminent separation, began to weep. The men cleared their throats and tried to calm the ladies.
In spite of the tears and the aching hearts, everyone got buckled up again.
"Now," said Ed, "I am going to go back home quite slowly. Take this opportunity to observe the stars and planets of the Cosmos, particularly of the Veral Solar System. Relax and enjoy the colors and the movements. It is the grandest sight possible, and just think that the creator of all of this, loves you so much that he sent a special mission to help you out with Gog and the impending genocide."
All of the group sat back and studied the magnificent Cosmos and said a prayer in their hearts to ONE, thanking him for sending them the ship bearing their greatest friends in the Cosmos. Thank you for delivering us.
Ed landed the ship at the base and everyone got unbuckled. Then they just sat and looked around them, trying to memorize every inch of this wonderful vehicle.
Ed sat down with us and called us to a formal meeting; our last formal meeting.
"My friends, before we part ways, please tell us all, what your plans are, for the future. Bond, maybe you should start, since we know a little about you now-that we had never suspected!"
"I am happy to say that in six months, Lucy and I will be married, and we plan to have a large family-as soon as possible.
"Miriam, you do not know this yet, but I am moving to Delta and Lucy and I are buying a big home just off of the University campus. next semester I have been hired as a professor in the Art Department."
Everyone clapped and whistled; we were all delighted with their plans.
Lucy said that she intended to stay on at the University and get outside help when the children were born. "We have all of you to thank for our relationship. If our visitors hadn't come, I may never have met Bond; I don't think I've ever been happier."
Miriam said that she had decided to retire from her judgeship and spend her time writing about her experiences as a Supreme Court Judge. She also wanted to lecture and do some traveling. Now that she had seen all of Kor from the air, she wanted to see it on road trips.
Adam chuckled and said, "Why Miriam, I guess great minds come to the same conclusions-sometimes. I am also going to retire, in another year. During that time-and this will come as a surprise to him-I will be grooming Lieutenant Ted Stars to become the next Commander of the Wale Army."
Whistles and congratulations rang through the ship again and we all cried and laughed at the same time. Adam pulled out his flask of Rye and liberally passed it out, and none of us were feeling anything beyond the most exquisite pain/joy, as we laughed until we cried.
"I, also, am going to retire next month," said General Patrick. "I have been dreaming of going fishing for years now, but with the trouble in the land I could not do that. But I have several really strong generals, and one of them will take my place just fine. Now that Gog is dead, I suddenly am free to do as I want for a change. I am going to fish and study Philosophy; what joy!"
Lt. Stars took a brief pause in the conversation to say, "Adam, I am so happy that you would think of me. I really never considered that you would ever want to retire, so it never occurred to me that someone would ever take your place. Thank you! I will give you all of my will and effort."
"I know you will, that is what you do everyday. That is why I trust in you so much. I know you will keep Wale free from now on, and I can relax and go back to my farm with my Willow and our children. We may even have more little ones; children that I can stop and enjoy," said Adam.
Tomorrow plans for a United Nations organization is discussed and more personal plans are disclosed.
