Ann has just finished working with her father in the first tier, or work tier, of Heaven and is now waiting for Ed and Glenna in her quiet place.
THE GOD GAMES:Heaven & Hell...Chapter Forty Five
A little while later, Glenna and Ed came walking up the pathway into our quiet place; as soon as they saw me, they asked me how things had gone and I told them that all had gone quite easily, and that daddy had sent me home because there really wasn't enough work for two people to keep busy in his kitchen. At least not making ice sculptures and carving animals out of vegetables. I explained to them how simple the process was and that it was largely a matter of thinking creatively.
"Yes," said Glenna, "work is done very easily here, but the point is not to do a lot of work, but to do the things that you enjoy doing and to have fun doing it. That is, work is just the movement of energy from here to there to accomplish a purpose, and it takes very little energy to do even that here. You only stay in tier one because what you enjoyed the most in your life was your work, or because you simply want to practice various skills."
"Well, we've been busy on your behalf, would you like to hear our story?" asked Ed.
"Of course I do!" I answered.
"Well we went to see Marie in the House of Pathways, and she'd be delighted to have you come and work for her. She has quite a backlog right at the moment and could use a spreadsheet designer to get her through all of it. She said that you could start this afternoon as soon as you are able.
"How do you feel about that?"
"Really happy, really. I can hardly wait to get into a set of data and statistics.
"I think that I can make the steps necessary to get to Marie and the House of Pathways by myself, so you two guys just relax and enjoy yourselves here in our quiet place."
"Take good care of yourself," Ed and Glenna said. "We'll be waiting for you here when you're done for the day."
With that, I thought in my mind of the Isle of Purpose and the Game Development: House of Pathways Building and there I was at the very long building with a ruby roof that glowed like fire. I opened the heavy brass door and walked into the very large computer room. A lady at a desk by the front door directed me to a door that had a sign on it that said, 'Birth Date.' I knocked on the door and a young lady opened it and when I told her who I was looking for, went and rounded up Marie who was the head of that department.
Marie gave me a big hug and asked if I'd done spreadsheet analysis in one of my jobs on Earth. We got into a long talk about Starnet and then the differences between what she is after and what a telephone company had been after.
"We do almost all of our calculations in our heads," said Marie, "but we like to keep one hard copy for each person that we see. Your job, should you take it, is to take the raw statistics and data and build a workable spreadsheet to show us that person's date of birth. Of course we always back-up all of our spreadsheets as I am sure you recognize.
"Well, do you think that you would enjoy doing something like this?"
"Yes, I think that I would like to do this job. When do I start?"
"Tomorrow morning. We open our offices bright and early."
"I'll see you then," I said.
I went immediately to my friends in our quiet place and told them that I would start work tomorrow morning. Everyone was happy for me and we decided to go our own ways until work was over tomorrow. I chose to go home and watch heavenly mother create until it was bedtime.
I woke up the next day and heavenly mother fixed me a lovely breakfast and then saw me off to my job with a hug and a kiss.
Tomorrow Ann completes her assignments and dreams about tier two.
