THOMAS SUSPECTS A ROMANCE IN THE SRM

First we find Lucy, Ann, and Alice enlisting soldiers & officers for the URA, then Thomas appears at the SRM cabin and suspects romance is in the air.

THE GOD GAMES: Legend of Kor...Chapter Thirteen

The next morning we arrived at the University business office and set up tables with all the paperwork we would need to enlist a person in the URA. Lucy had called in several doctors to give army physicals to our new enlistees, and Alice sat at her desk and was prepared to dole out the $1,000 in gold coins to each new recruit.

The day brought at least a thousand applicants who were healthy and passed all of the criteria. We had 200 professors who signed up for officer's duty and 810 men and women who signed up to be soldiers.

Once signed up, the new enlistees were sent home to pack their duffels. They would return tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. and be transported to the Wale-Emon border. 1,000 of the old ERM soldiers would be used for the Special Forces unit, and they would be going to the Wale armory under the leadership of General Oates, who was the active commander-in-chief of Lucy's current ERM.

We kept receiving enlistees all week, and by Saturday afternoon we had sent a total of 1,000 ERM soldiers and officers to General Coleman. We had enlisted a total of 300 officers and 4,000 soldiers, and those new soldiers and 1,000 of the old ERM soldiers were all sent to patrol the Wale-Emon border.

Lucy called all of her officers to a meeting in the business office and told them the plans for overcoming Gog. She assigned soldiers to each officer and she used the current ERM officers to lead the new officers and help them command the new soldiers.

Her plan was to ship 1,000 of the current ERM personnel and 4,000 of the new recruits to the border of Wale and Emon and then have them march to the border of Selve, killing any Selve soldiers they should happen upon. That gave her 5,000 soldiers to search and clear all of Emon from Selve invaders and 1,000 soldiers for the Special Forces unit.

By Saturday evening, a great deal had happened in Emon, and Lucy and Alice were both exhausted and looking forward to a restful and interesting Sunday.

We went to bed early, and at 6:00 a.m. Alice knocked on Lucy's front door and we all had a light breakfast together.

At 6:59 a.m., we held hands and I thought our way back to the ship.

It was glorious to see the ship again, and we were seconds there before anyone else.

THOMAS:

I left the ship at 10:59 p.m. and appeared at the clearing in the Vorask Forest by 1:00 p.m.

Wills and Molly were startled to see me appear before them, as they had no idea I was coming to them at all this week.

"Tom! Tom! Is that really you? How great this is! But why are you here now?" questioned Wills.

"Hello Wills and Molly! Where are Trev and Julie?"

"Oh they're inside doing school work. We usually have them study for three hours each day. It gives us a spot of time to be alone and work our ideas through. Afterwards, we let the children play while we fix lunch and we are then free to work for the rest of the day light.

"So why are you here now?"

"My friends and I decided to spend our week days with our Korian friends, helping out in any way we can, without actually making decisions, or doing what you can do for yourselves.

"We have a great deal of respect for all of your abilities and we know you will be able to succeed-by sheer force of will-in winning this war against Gog."

"We simply won't stop until the Wales and the interned are set free, and Selve will become a democracy...as I live and breathe she will." exclaimed Wills.

"I know you will, Wills. You are a strong and ethical man. Well, let's sit down and see how I can best be of help to you."

I watched with interest how carefully Wills brushed off Molly's chair before she sat down, and I wondered if there could be romance in the air; I thought I'd keep my thoughts to myself about it though.

Tomorrow Thomas and Wills discuss their army's movements and Thomas confronts Wills about his feelings for Molly.
