Lucy receives the weapons from Miriam and goes on a road trip to the Front.
THE GOD GAMES: Legend of Kor...Chapter Seventeen
On Thursday we received 1,000 more weapons from Miriam. We cataloged and registered them and then Lucy decided that we would take the guns to the front ourselves. We took a huge older car that had room for the three of us, and a driver, and all 1,000 of the assorted weapons. It was a six-hour drive, and we were excited to see six heavily-armed soldiers step out in front of the car and check to see who we were. It looked like all was going well for our troops.
When we entered the camps we saw that the soldiers were practicing at a newly set up firing range and so we made our way to the mess tent and had a cup of coffee.
Soon General Rand appeared to see why we were there visiting him. He was in charge of half of the soldiers that would be at the Lantel River and then march to the Selve border. We showed him the weapons and he was ecstatic to see them. Now all of his men would be armed with the latest technology.
General Rand took us to the officer's war tent and we got to meet General Cummings who was going to be in charge of the other half of the soldiers and march them west to the ocean and then north to Selve.
Everything looked to be in good shape and ready for the march through Emon to the Selve border; and then, in less than two weeks, to attack Selve and all of Gog's soldiers.
The mess sergeant fixed us a beautiful dinner of fresh trout, rice, and a big salad. For dessert he brought out homemade cookies. After our dinner we left once again for Delta.
On Friday, Lucy and I went on a trip all through Delta and her outskirts to ask people with gardens to give half of their crops to the URA, particularly the Emon soldiers. We met with great success, and the carts we had brought along were soon filled to overflowing.
We established a regular route, where, twice a week, the carts would go to the people with gardens and collect vegetables and eggs, and then the carts would roll on to the soldiers in the field.
Another stop at the pier, where fishing boats docked, netted us three tons of fish and a promise of another three tons every other day. We watched as the fish-carts rolled off to the front.
On Saturday we received 12 trucks filled with grains and vegetables from General Coleman's farmers. There was also a promise that trucks would come twice a week for the duration of the war.
Lucy was very pleased that everything was falling into place. Her soldiers would be ready to start marching to Selve, on this upcoming Monday morning.
Saturday night, Lucy took me to Le Span for dinner. We sat and relaxed, enjoyed the ambiance of Le Span, and fielded questions from the other diners. We walked home in the soft, warm, spring night and listened to the hoots of the owls and the songs of nightingales. We felt at peace and looked forward to seeing the ship tomorrow.
Sunday morning at 6:30, Alice knocked on the door. We let her in while we finished getting prepared for the day; then we all went for a walk in a park near Lucy's apartment. As we walked around a small lake we said a quick prayer, I pressed the invisibility button, and then thought us back to the ship.

When I arrived at the armory, I said hello to the other officers and went in search of Wills.
Wills was with his men making sure they were receiving all of the training that they needed. Currently, he was watching them fire rounds at targets in the shape and color of Selves. The men were excellent sharp shooters and they also practiced throwing knives at the targets.
When Wills spotted me he came over and gave me a hug, then asked what I thought of his men and their abilities.
I assured him that the men were really great marksmen and he beamed with pride.
I asked him what we were going to do next, and he told me that tomorrow he, Bond, and I were going on a spy mission. We would leave Wale's borders and travel around Vulpan to the Selve border. We would be looking for Selve infiltrators.
I was really excited by the prospect and I helped Wills prepare three backpacks for us to carry. We each would also carry a semi-automatic rifle and, in a holster, an automatic pistol. There would also be three knives on my person.
Tomorrow is once again philosophical prose day and a day of rest. May you have a wonderful weekend.
