We find the enrgynauts off on their spying missions to Gog's Palace and the death camps.
THE GOD GAMES: Legend of Kor...Chapter Eighteen
Tom and Ed landed on the front lawn of Gog's palace. Although they were invisible, they were suddenly attacked by five fire lizards coming pell-mell toward them. Immediately, Tom and Ed pushed the button to make them shoot up in the air; just in time, as the lizards attempted to attack their ankles. Soldiers came racing after the lizards and found nothing but the lizards going crazy over thin air. "Calm down, you ignorant worms," shouted the soldiers as they grabbed the lizard's collars and drug them around to the back of the palace. Tom and Ed stayed up in the air and followed the lizards to see where their homes really were The lizards were allowed to roam the ground at will and were trained to come when they heard a whistle.
Tom and Ed looked over the entire outside of the palace and realized that there really were very few people around the building. They saw the front door and the back door, and several side doors. There was a soldier stationed at each door, heavily armed and wearing a large whistle, to call the lizards with, but the house seemed very quiet and still, and most of the guards seemed to be falling into a deep slumber.
Tom quietly walked past a sleepy guard, and tried the handle of the side door. It opened easily and quietly, and Tom motioned for Ed to follow him. They found themselves inside a dining room with no one around, and began to walk all over the first floor. No one seemed to be home, but they found the kitchen which had several windows that went from the floor to the ceiling. They investigated the lock on a windowed door and thought that it would be perfect to break in there.
They left the kitchen and soon found themselves in the entry hall with a huge staircase that led up to two more floors. A soldier sat in a chair, tipped back, at the bottom of the stairs. He snored deeply and his chair almost lost its hold on the floor, but he righted himself, and fell back to sleep.
Tom and Ed snuck up the stairs managing not to hit a stair that squeaked. The second floor had five bedrooms and six bathrooms, but no soldier guarded any of the rooms, so they continued up to the third floor. There, they saw three soldiers guarding closed double doors. Tom went out on the landing and began to scream loudly. Everyone came awake at once. Chairs clunked as they fell, and suddenly four soldiers were running around in circles looking for a screamer that seemed to have disappeared. Tom and Ed pressed their ears against the double doors that led to Gog's bedroom, and could hear Gog talking to himself and moving around the room..
Success; now they knew where to find Gog and how to handle his soldiers. They imagined that at 3:00 in the morning all of the guards would be in a deep sleep. They should have no problem accessing Gog and taking care of him before the guards or lizards could begin to think straight. Tom and Ed thought themselves back to the ship and waited for the girls to return.
___________
Glenna and I thought-traveled to a quarter of a mile from the internment camps; we put on our invisibility and walked to the camps. We could hear moans and groaning and sobs as we walked carefully to the edge of the camp.
We could see guard towers at every corner of the compound. Suddenly, a pack of fire lizards appeared and began to tear the fence apart where we were standing. They made loud shrill screeches and a group of soldiers came running up to the fence. They couldn't see anything bothering the lizards, so they grabbed them by the collars and dragged them back to their guard posts.
"Wow! That was close. I guess that the lizards must be able to see us, or smell our presence," said Glenna.
We continued walking until we came to what must be the front gate. It had a sign on it that said SELVE CAMP #1. We pushed on the gate and it was locked, so we pushed our float button, rose up in the air, and then came down on the other side of the fence. We saw a long line of barracks and entered the first barracks we came to.
There was a candle on a table in the middle of the room, and a Selve guard sitiing in a chair next to the table.
We tiptoed over to what looked like a three-tier bunk bed. The room was lined with bunk beds that were made out of raw lumber, and had no mattress, or pillow on them.
The gentleman in the bed we were standing beside suddenly went into a horrible round of coughing. He began to cry because of the pain of coughing. We saw he had only one thin blanket that barely covered his shoulders and chest. His body was skin and bones and was shaking so hard that you could hear his bones knocking together.
This coughing seemed to increase and soon half of the persons in the barracks were also coughing. The guard jumped up from his chair and yelled at the top of his lungs, "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! Do you want a taste of my whip?"
Tomorrow we follow Glenna and Ann as they experience the death camp for themselves.
