Gog had just finished his radio speech to all of Selve; and now comes the enforcement.
THE GOD GAMES: Legend of Kor...Chapter Fifteen
Gog left the radio station without fielding any questions and went directly to his war room to await his generals. All of the generals arrived in the war room by 8:30 that night.
"General Lowe, how did the food gathering go?"
"It went well in some ways, and not so well in others. We covered about three square miles today but it was slow going because no one wanted to give up their food. We left people angry and in tears but we left with the food. As for the fishing industry, it is practically non-existent. I found a total of 40 fishing boats of all types. None of them were in great condition, but I got the owners busy on repairs."
"We will find ourselves with an army and no power for it to run on!" screeched Gog.
"Yes, sir, we will increase the number of carts and get the food rounded up and stored away, and I will keep pressure on the fishermen. I am also organizing a unit of soldiers to harvest kelp."
"Good idea! We will need everything we can round up.
"General Avery, have you organized spy details yet?"
Yes, sir, I have a crack-smart unit of 80 trained guerilla fighters-officers and men-who will go out in teams and thoroughly cover all of Kor. We sent them out five hours ago and expect word from them shortly. The team is led by a fan of yours, Rave Gilbert. He sure is a young firebrand!"
"Yes. Well then, how are you doing in preparing for training our new soldiers?"
"I have outlined a training program and am going to start implementation of that program right after this meeting is over.
"Very well, now, General Vean, how did enlistments go? Was there any resistance to the new laws?"
"There was quite a bit of resistance sir. The public seems to be working itself into a revolution..."
"STOP! What you are speaking is heresy! I will not allow them to revolt. Kill any person who begins to speak sedition!"
"Yes, Sir!" answered General Vean.
"Good. General Rusk, have you begun to receive new recruits and are you organized enough to handle them?"
"We are scrambling, Sir. We do not have housing for any larger army than we already have, so soldiers will have to go to their homes at night, but General Avery has a good plan for training the new recruits quickly so I believe we can get your newly enlarged army up and ready in two weeks."
"And are you planning the attacks on Emon, Voun, and Wale?"
"I have an outline in mind, but I will make refinements as information from our spies comes in. I will know more tomorrow."
"All right, good work men, but no more seditious remarks. We are going to do whatever it takes to win this war! Any doubts about this?
"No sir!" chorused the four generals.
"You are dismissed."
Gog signaled for his limousine and went home to his palace of a house. His wife had gone out with her girlfriends so he had the house to himself. The butler served him a meal of opalescent fish, tossed salad, asparagus, baked potato, and custard with raspberries. It was washed down with a deep red grape wine.
Replete, Gog took a long soak in his bubbling bath and then sunk into his big, deep feather bed. He soon drifted off and slept like a baby.
Tomorrow the energynauts and the Korians have their second war council on the silver ship.
