The energynauts and the leaders of the URA are having their weekly meeting in the space ship and take their first ride in the space ship to explore Kor.
THE GOD GAMES: Legend of Kor...Chapter Sixteen
Tom and Ed took General Patrick on a tour of the ship, and Lucy, Miriam, Alice, and Wills worked on ammunition needs for Lucy's soldier's weapons.
Glenna and I prepared and served fried river trout, garden salad, banana squash with sugar and cinnamon, scalloped potatoes, French-bread garlic toast, and rice pudding with raisins. We enjoyed the meal and then didn't want to move for 15 minutes.
Finally, Tom brought us out of our stupor by reminding us about the ride we were about to take.
We went through our lock-down procedure to stabilize and immobilize anything that could move during take-off, which took about 10 minutes. We had everyone sit in chairs and strap themselves in with seat belts and harnesses, then Tom and Ed sat down at the controls and Tom said, "Relax. Your heart may rise to your throat, but that is the sensation we get as we move away from gravity and shoot straight up. You are absolutely safe if you are strapped in tight."
With that said, Ed took the controls and started the Fluxithon that initiated the confrontation between matter and anti-matter, producing a great deal of energy that powered the ship and all of our equipment.
A second later we were a mile high and the ship hovered while everyone got their bearings. It was a beauty of a day, but Miriam and Lucy were having trouble adjusting to a see-through floor, walls, and ceiling. They had the sensation that they were going to fall from the sky but after about ten minutes they lost their fear once they realized that they were perfectly safe.
The invisibility shield was on as we flew as close to the ground as was safe, and began a circle around Vulpan. We saw the gold and silver mines of Selve and the concentration camps and crematoriums. We marveled at the mountains and forest surrounding Vulpan.
We saw beautiful, restful, Lake Como and the fields, farms, and rivers of Wale. It looked like a giant patchwork quilt from the sky above it.
Plange Bay came up next with her multicolored yachts and fishing vessels. Then the Salt Palace loomed before us, and the rows of Victorian homes. Voun was a beautiful country with wild woods and heather-covered foothills.
We saw a lot of human military activity at the borders of Selve and Voun, across the Salis River, and saw again-as if to burn it into our retinae as well as our hearts-the internment camps and crematoriums; the piles of bodies; the cries of the inmates. We had had to come down really low in order to be able to see into the compounds at all, because the black and brown smoke from the crematoriums hung thick and low over the camps.
We passed over Wills' base camp, saw that it was safe and sound, and then on to Mano. We hovered over Gog's Palace and tried to imagine what it was like inside. We flew over the Parliament Building, Burgess Hall-which was huge-and the Fuseball Stadium where Gog held his rallies.
When we reached the Avondel River, which was the Emon-Selve border, we again saw a great deal of military activity and all of our antennae went up.
We were over Emon now, and saw the desert to the Northeast, and the plains from the Avondel River to Delta. We came to Delta and Lucy pointed out the various colleges that made up the University, and the circle-neighborhoods that made up the outskirts of the metropolis.
Next, we swung out over the Olan Ocean and circled the planet. We explored the ice caps and the one large ice world, which is covered with animals of all manner of shapes and sizes; colors and types.
Finally, we flew far above Kor and around her many-cratered moon, Lumena. Looking back down at Kor was like looking down on a mountain of sapphires and emeralds. It took everyone's breath away, and we all sat quietly as we re-approached Kor and set ourselves down on our previous base.
We unlocked our seatbelts and harnesses and stood up to get the kinks out of our joints and muscles. Our guests were all talking at once. They loved the ride and they had seen their own countries, and all of Kor, as they had never seen them before. I could tell they each were very proud of their own country and proud of Kor, also.
After 15 minutes Tom called us back to the table and asked what we had observed on our trip.
"I'll go first," said Adam. "Seeing the camps and the enormous stack of corpses waiting to be burned has galvanized my will. Can we wait two more weeks to free those prisoners? Will anyone still be left alive?"
"I am sure that everyone here is asking themselves the same questions, Adam. I don't know the answers to those questions, but if we strike prematurely, before we're ready, we may do more harm than good," said Tom.
"I noticed that there was a lot of activity at the borders of Selve and our various countries. It looked to me as if Gog may be getting ready for war. I think we need to send out some spies in Emon, Voun, Wale, and the area surrounding Vulpan," remarked Lucy.
"I will take care of that as soon as I get back to the base this evening," responded Adam. "We will send out 600 of our Special Forces soldiers; soldiers who have been trained in guerrilla warfare. They can go straight to the borders of Selve and see what is going on."
"I see that a major bridge in Voun has been razed," said General Patrick. "I am sure glad to be warned of that; now I can detour."
"I was glad to see all of Emon at one time. Now I understand what my officers tell me about troop movements," said Lucy.
"Kor is really beautiful. I hope that after this war, we can all be friends and get to visit and enjoy each other's countries," remarked Miriam.
"I was really glad to see that my base is still secure, but it concerns me seeing all of the military traffic in Selve. I hope I've left enough men behind to keep her secure," Wills said.
"Did you all feel that the trip was worthwhile?" asked Ed.
"Oh, yes, it was an experience I will treasure all of my life," replied both Alice and Bond.
"Good. We may make the ride a part of our weekly meetings in order to gain information on how Selve's Army is advancing. Two weeks from today we will make our move and wipe-out Gog and all of his men.
"This week is critical for training and advancement for our officers and soldiers, and once again, you will have our companionship and help, so, what say we close our meeting for today and get back to our own countries," asked Tom.
"Yes, that's a great idea," said Adam. "We have our plates full at home, and many projects to work on."
We all got up from the table and said our goodbyes. Then we all left the ship and locked her hatch.
Each of us took our friends to their respective homes and then returned to the ship.
We decided to take Monday morning to clean the ship and prepare her for our next meeting with our friends. Glenna and I cleaned inside and prepared a meal and dessert for next Sunday.
Tom and Ed gave the ship a bath and checked her wiring. Then they both laid down for a short rest and Glenna and I decided to lie down also.
At about 2:00 p.m., we all woke up and began to prepare to leave for our friend's homes.
At 4:00 p.m., we stepped outside of the ship and went immediately to where our friends were waiting.
Tomorrow we visit Gog, who is in a major snit, and learn how his programs are working in Selve.
