The 15 leaders meet for the third time on the spaceship and work out details of the attack on Selve. They go for their second spaceship road trip.
THE GOD GAMES: Legend of Kor...Chapter Eighteen
Tom opened the hatch, and we all went inside the ship and took our usual seats. Trev and Julie sat in the dining nook and we put on the movie, Pinocchio, for them, and gave them a plate full of brownies and glasses of grape juice.
"I am so glad to see all of you," said Tom, "We are on the brink of conflict; a week from tonight we kill Gog, attack Selve, and free the concentration camps. I'd like to know how prepared you are feeling, and what you have accomplished so far.
"Adam, would you go first, and tell us about how you are feeling?"
"Sure. We sent out 100 spies on Tuesday morning. We have heard back from 80 of them and they have seen the enemy and killed 60 of their spies. Wills, Bond, and Tom captured two Selve spies and shot them on sight.
"All four thousand men that will be in the Special Task Force are ready and willing to begin marching toward the Selve internment camp immediately. I have to reign-in their enthusiasm a little bit. They are worried that a friend or relative may die before we can free them. I tell them that we will receive a signal that tells us that now is the best time to move.
"On Monday, tomorrow, before dawn, I am starting all 4,000 Special Forces soldiers marching toward the concentration camps in Selve. We will camp a mile from the Selve border and await the signal to cross into Selve, attack their soldiers, and free all of the prisoners.
"Wale will be guarded by the 4,000 soldiers in the Wale Army led by Lieutenant Ted Stars.
"We have a full complement of weapons for each of our soldiers. They have spent days working on the firing range and becoming proficient with their weapons.
"We have extra weapons, blankets, and medical supplies, and a constant stream of trucks bringing us food and other supplies.
"I feel that we are as ready as we'll ever be, and I am also itching to start moving."
"Thank you Adam. Your opinion carries a lot of weight with all of us," said Tom.
There was a chorus of support for Adam after Tom spoke.
"Lucy, why don't you tell us if you are on track, or if you need any more help?" asked Tom.
"I am bursting with pride about how our citizens responded. We had no trouble getting new recruits; in fact, we gathered more than were necessary. We have 5,000 soldiers ready to march on Selve tomorrow morning.
"Our citizens were able to gather many weapons that they gave us to use, and Wills and Miriam have provided 3,000 weapons, so we are fine as far as weapons go. Our people have given us food from their gardens, and our fishermen are providing fresh fish daily, in order to feed the soldiers, but our greatest help has come from Adam. He has been sending truck loads of grain and vegetables to our soldiers."
"He does the same for my soldiers," said Miriam. "He is a true blessing."
"Ladies, it is not just the goodness of my heart," said Adam, "I have a lot of good, basic food and I want all of our soldiers to be well fed so that we can win this war. I have been told that an army marches on its stomach and I believe that's true."
"Well, it seems true to me," Lucy replied. "The people are so supportive of our plans that they are volunteering their time and money. Now we are ready to start marching tomorrow morning and we are in a very good state of mind."
Tom said, "That's just great Lucy, now Wills, how are things going for you?"
"I have very little left to do," said Wills. "All of my soldiers are being trained well and our present maneuvers are helping them to become razor sharp.
"They are now under the command of Bond and he is single-minded in his determination to capture the camps.
"I have been working on a plan to re-organize, and help the Selve citizens, once we have deposed Gog and beaten his army. I need to have a plan of action so that I can come to the rescue of the Selve people as soon as possible after their defeat."
"One thing I can do is supply fresh food and fish to the Selve people until they can get back on their feet," stated Adam.
"Adam, that is great of you. Without such help, I cannot possibly get the people to stop fearing their new leaders; you and me. If one is hungry it would be very hard to listen to and accept a new direction for Selve," said Wills.
"I thought that we might leave our soldiers in Selve for at least as long as it takes to set up a representative government there. They will need guidance until the lawlessness is brought under control," offered General Patrick.
"That is a very good idea Sam. Lucy, how would you feel about leaving your soldiers in Selve for a short period of time?" asked Tom.
"I would be glad to help also. After all, none of us are going to feel safe until Selve is back in order and hopefully a new democracy," answered Lucy.
"I am so proud of you, thinking about helping what is now our enemy. You are all to be congratulated," remarked Tom.
Tomorrow we have the second space flight and the new observations they make as they circle the planet.
