A ROAD TRIP FOR GLENNA & MIRIAM

Miriam gives her radio speech and then she and Glenna begin a road trip to speak at Town Meetings across Voun; in an effort to enlist soldiers for the URA.

THE GOD GAMES: Legend of Kor...Chapter Fourteen

Miriam gave a talk on the radio at 8:00 p.m. that evening.

She declared war on Gog, and said that they were now in an alliance with Emon, Wale, and the underground resistance movement of Selve in order to depose Gog and destroy his military organization.

She said that the allies had formed one united military organization called the Underground Resistance Army (URA) under the head of General Adam Coleman, the commander of the Wale Army.

All nations will serve together, but each country will maintain serving with their own officers, except that the Special Forces unit will be mixed and led by Bond Boyd.

She called for volunteers to enter the URA for the length of the war only, and promised a year's supply of salt to every enlistee. She asked to borrow, for the course of the war, any guns or other weapons that they did not need and to consider loaning carts and lizards, trucks, or cars to the war effort.

Miriam then spoke from her heart, of Mischi and the other brutalized men, women, and children. Of the thousands of their relatives and friends forced into slavery. Of the internment camps with the piles of bodies and two crematoriums, and finally of the fact that they were no longer free people as long as Gog could kill and terrorize with impunity.

Miriam ended with a plea for volunteers and a list of where to go to volunteer, then she made another surprise announcement. "I have decided to spend the next two weeks on a road trip to spread the word of the plans for war and seek volunteers for the URA. I will be answering your questions at town hall meetings and bringing carts to collect your extra weapons should you have any to spare.

After the radio show the technicians and studio personnel crowded around with dozens of questions. Miriam spent one hour reassuring them and firing up their spirits with the promise that the revolt would be successful and imploring them to have faith in their own vital strength.

After Miriam had finished at the radio station, she asked me if I would accompany her on the road trip. She said that the people needed to see her face to be reassured that they can win a war with Gog and that she would give them the encouragement they needed.

I told her that I would be glad to go with her and we decided to travel on the first leg, tomorrow afternoon until Saturday night.

We walked to Miriam's mansion.

Miriam's home was beautiful. She lived alone with a butler and a maid who were husband and wife.

Miriam gave me a huge room with a hot tub and the softest bed I'd ever slept on.

I was about to fall asleep when Miriam knocked lightly on the door and asked if she could come in for a moment. I said, "sure," and got up and put the light on.

Miriam's arms were full of material of all colors. She laughed when she saw the look on my face.

"What are those?" I asked Miriam.

"Honey, I don't want you to feel offended but tomorrow you are going to begin to tour with me. I know you didn't bring many dresses, coming as you did during a work week and, I imagine, expecting to do physical labor. So, I thought I'd share some of my good dresses with you. I'd like you to look as beautiful as you are.

"Have I made you feel bad?"

"Oh, no! I never gave a thought as to what I was going to wear. How silly of me, why I would be proud to share your clothes! What do you have there?"

Miriam gave me six dresses and a bag of accessories. The dresses were beautiful, made of rich silk or satin and decorated with beading, or fur, or semi-precious gems. I was just stunned and I gave Miriam a big hug and thank you.

We left the next afternoon in the company of a chauffeur and Miriam's social secretary, Marie. The luxury car we were in was huge and had little vases of roses by the windows.

We spent Tuesday afternoon through Saturday on the road in the north and northeast counties of Voun. We kept to the ocean route and stopped at each town that we came to. There, Miriam would speak about the war and the challenge of destroying Gog's armies and removing him from power; then setting all the slaves and Wales free from  the concentration camps.

At each stop, Marie would sign up volunteers that had been moved by her speech. We were followed by several carts and by two troop transports carrying soldiers to guard us. We would spend the nights at the home of one of Miriam's supporters, and the soldiers would set up camp outside of whatever town we were in.

On Saturday we headed back towards Piers, the Voun capital, with two carts full of weapons and a list of 500 new enlistees. Miriam felt that our trip had been successful and was very pleased. The people had shown great enthusiasm for the war effort after they realized that it would be a joint effort of Vouns, Emons, Wales, and even some Selves.

Early Sunday morning, we met General Patrick at Miriam's office in the Supreme Court building. After exchanging greetings we explained to General Patrick how we traveled to the ship. You could see surprise and disbelief on the General's face.

We held hands and asked ONE to protect our travel, then I thought and we were at the ship. The General's face showed shock; when he saw the ship, his mouth fell open in surprise.

Tomorrow is philosophical poetry day, and a day of rest. Have a wonderful weekend!
